What COMMes NexT?
By Jonamae Gomez
Everything must come to an end. The
only thing that we can do is to try and try until you got what you wanted. But what
if there are a lot of obstacles or challenges ahead? What will you do? Are you
going to raise the white flag and surrender or get down on your knees and pray
to reach the finish line?
Every graduating student has this
kind of fear that, Am I going to graduate? What if yes, what will the best job
for me? What are the companies that will best suit my course taken, where should
I go first? Should I rest for a while? Stay home and pamper myself from the
things that I supposed to do when I was still studying?
Those are
just some of the questions that will definitely pops up on your mind when we
come to the point of receiving the “white paper” and “having a handshake with
the president or head of the university”.
Well in this blog, I just would
like to share my thoughts and learning’s from the seminar that I attended. It’s
not just a typical and boring seminar that you’re thinking, because through
this I was enlighten and eye opened with that question of “What COMMes Next?”
That’s the thing, I don’t know where to go after this, what job and how will I maximize
all those abilities and skills that I have. Like what is the best among the
rest? In this seminar there are 7 speakers.
The one that strike me the most
is the first speaker. He has shared his insights that I think I can maximize my
course. He shared that in order to be a successful you got to have; Passion,
Skills and Market. Why? Because through this you’ll get to know more of
yourself and see what are your abilities. Life of a COMMunication student is
not easy, especially it has different aspects but what’s a good thing about is
that it’s for everything; this course has the different kind of job that you
can apply. Well what’s the best line that Mr. Nico said? Is that all fresh graduates
are equal to all companies whether you are coming from the provincial university
or other. All you have to bring is that yourself and the confidence that earn. And
remember not the INSECURITIES.
Also the best things that I learned
is that the rest of the speakers have also shared their working experience on “working
online”, they give us the opportunities and benefits that we can get on working
online. It’s a bit crazy about social media, how powerful it is. But since I started
the “writing for new media” class it changed me a lot, not in the usual way but
in the fastest way.
It’s not too late for a new
beginning, you can pretend that you don’t know but you can’ get escaped with it.
So as for you what will you do next? Take it or leave it.
